Transition
" The school works extremely effectively to ensure a smooth transition for pupils from primary to secondary education through the pastoral transfer liaison arrangements."
Before students move to Haydock High School a great deal of work will have been done to prepare them for this very important step.
The children visit as early as Year 5 to take part in a National Curriculum Activity Day. The planning then starts to ensure a smooth transitional stage and to build a meaningful partnership between school and home.
Our Keystage 2/3 Manager Mrs Mallison visits all our Partnership Primary Schools to speak with the students and answer any questions they might have at this vital stage in their school career. Equally important are the close working relations we have formed with our Primary colleagues in assessing the strengths and needs of the students prior to transfer. It is our belief that the community of a student's educational experience can be significantly enhanced by the quality of the professional links established between primary and secondary schools.
Termly meetings take place between the Headteachers of all Haydock's Partnership Primary Schools and key school staff.
From September 2011, Haydock High School will be providing full wraparound care for Years 5, 6, 7 and 8 students. Click here for more details.
