Sex Education

Sex Education is mainly delivered in Science and Citizenship from years 7 to 11.

Topics covered include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Puberty
  • Contraception
  • Sexually transmitted infections (including HIV and AIDS)
  • Relationships
  • Assertive behaviour
  • Self esteem
  • Awareness of support agencies

Sex Education is provided in such a way as to encourage young people to have regard for moral considerations and to value family life.

This is in line with St Helens LA Relationships and Sex Education Guidance Course, supported and enhanced by Health Days which involve visitors from outside agencies.

Religious Education

Pupils who are withdrawn by their parents from RE are given an opportunity to do private study. Parents are requested to give some guidance to the ‘spiritual’ direction they wish this study to take.

Public Examination Entry Policy

All pupils have an entitlement to be entered for the public examination outlined in the course specification. For the most part this will comprise of an entry at GCSE level or a vocational course.

Only in exceptional circumstances will a pupil be withdrawn or indeed not entered for the examination. Any pupils not entered for Public Exams will receive notification and in all cases their parents will be informed.

Admissions Policy

Haydock Sports College adheres to the St Helens MBC Schools Admissions Policy.
