On Wednesday 23rd June, as England prepared to fight through to the last 16 of the World Cup – Mr Fullerton arranged for the match to be shown on a big screen in the Drama Theatre.
The atmosphere was electric as many pupils and staff filled the room at 2.55pm ready for the 3pm kick off.

The students led the chanting for England throughout the match and were accompanied at regular intervals by Mr Carter on the tuba and Mr McArdle on the cornet. Renditions of various chants including E-N-G-E-R-L-A-N-D were played enthusiastically by the two of them and the students’ response was deafening – chants, cheers, applause, foot stamping – you name it – they did it!

At the end of the 1st half, the students were treated to a half-time break and refreshments were provided before seats were filled again in preparation for the last 45 minutes.

With the final score being 1-0 to England, the celebrations continued as everyone made their way home. Roll on the next match!
